5.1.19

Write something sad and slow
As we lay in hazy light, so low
Whisper soft, never let me go

A horn blared in the distance, signaling the end of the day’s activities as the suns set. Once the last note dropped into the wind, Weaver clasped his hands together.  “That’s a perfect place to call it a for tonight.”

I…
I wanted to be further along,
and I think so did she.
But I guess,
when it came down to it,
I’m still so scared
she’ll leave.
Or it’s a lie.
Because if it’s real,
then I don’t know
how
I got this lucky.
I’m afraid
to lose it.
I’m okay.
You’re okay.
We worked it out.

4.30.19

You cry out for me in your dreams sometimes
Looking for meaning in a hopeless moment
Stuck in a past day, the worst possible way
You don’t wake, but I tell you it’ll be okay

Don’t beat us at our own game, change the rules.

Tell me we’ll be okay and I’ll believe
Whisper in my ear and I’ll breathe

Stand up to assholes, don’t become one.

4.29.19

It’s okay to get lost sometimes
Some days one must lose
Themselves in order to
Find who they need to be

“This will not be the last time you place others in danger. It will not get easier.  Nor should it.”

One day I’ll understand how sleep works
Because right now my brain keeps moving
And my body aches long into the night
Waiting for you to hold me, just right

4.28.19

Lies leave scars that don’t forget
though we try to forgive
sometimes we fail
more often we fade

Staring death in the face and surviving is tenacity, not luck.

(or does it sound better as)

Never underestimate someone who faced death and survived.

It’s not the shoes
But the feet that
Wear them and
How far they move

“The phrase ‘war game’ is a misnomer, people.  We are not here to play games, but hone the art of war.  Only those that commit will survive long enough to be where I stand.  The rest will be dog tags lost somewhere in vacuum.  Dismissed.”

Arguments aren’t, or rather shouldn’t
Be about holding things over one’s head
Like a score-card reprieving pugilists
Or throwing past mistakes as punches

But some days you have to address
The past, the present and the future
And you must acknowledge that we
All have caused scars and bruises

“It’s thousands of hours of practice, soft touch and slow breathing.  A ship flies the way the pilot feels.  You panic, it tumbles.  You stay calm, it flies true.  When it flies true, you don’t hesitate.  You believe.  You will it to happen.  You… know.

Captain America
with the hammer
Or Arya Stark
with the dagger

Speak what you want them to hear. Type what you need to say.

4.27.19

Tell me we will be more
Than dust in the wind
Another finger snap
A last broken gasp

“A rich man’s murder isn’t solved unless someone pays to keep it unsolved.”

I loved silence, until you.
When you’re gone,
I don’t know what to do.

I have ideas, but they’re all horrible.”

Is this story even
Worth reading
I’m not sure
I keep writing
Even if only I want
To see what
Happens next
